Uzbekistan, World Bank sign $100 million loan agreement to support “Prosperous Village” project
On January 17, Finance Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov met with World Bank Vice President Cyril Muller.
During the meeting, the results of financial and economic reforms carried out in the country in 2019, the adoption of the State budget in the form of law and the tax code in a new edition were discussed.
Muller emphasized that the adopted Law on the State Budget for 2020 is a necessary and effective measure to continue transformations in the economic life of Uzbekistan.
As part of the meeting, the parties signed a loan agreement for $100 million to support the “Prosperous Village” project, which is aimed at improving the quality of social infrastructure and living standards in the rural areas of Fergana, Andijan, Namangan, Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions.
