Population of Uzbekistan increased by 650,300 people in 2019 – State Statistics Committee
As of January 1, 2020, the number of resident population of Uzbekistan amounted to 33,905,800 people, which is more by 650,300 people compared to the same period last year.
According to the State Statistics Committee, analysis by regions of the republic showed that as of January 1, 2020, Samarkand region had the largest population – 11.4% (share in the total population of the republic), Fergana – 11.1%, Kashkadarya – 9.7% and Andijan – 9.2%.
According to the preliminary data, as of January 1, 2020, 30.5% of the total resident population in the republic are people under working age, 58.9% – at working age and 10.6% – senior citizens.
During 2019, 815,900 births were registered in Uzbekistan, the birth rate per 1,000 population was 24.3 ppm and, compared with the same period in 2018, increased by 1.0 ppm (for January-December 2018 – 23.3 ppm).
In addition, in January-December 2019, 155,000 deaths were registered, the mortality rate was 4.6 ppm and, compared with the same period in 2018, decreased by 0.1 ppm (for January-December 2018 – by 4.7 ppm).
