STC seizes 216 thousand masks, transfers them to the Ministry of Health
During control and prevention operations, the State Tax Committee (STC) seized 216,690 face masks and transferred them to the Ministry of Health, the press service of the STC reported.
Call Center of the STC receives complaints about overpriced face masks every day. In total, during the quarantine period, increasing prices for masks, antiseptics and medical devices were the subject of more than 2.5 thousand complaints.
“Unfortunately, there are many cases when people without any documents or license buy masks from suppliers in large quantities and resell them to the population at higher prices. The conditions in which the products are stored do not comply with basic requirements,” the State Tax Committee noted.
Thus, during the quarantine period, the committee identified 81 cases of illegal sale of medical masks by unscrupulous entrepreneurs. In total, during the control and prevention operations, 216,690 face masks were seized.
The vast majority of the cases were revealed in the city of Tashkent (49), Namangan (10), Andijan (7) and Fergana (5).
