More than 23 thousand entrepreneurs have signed a letter of guarantee promising that they will not unfairly increase prices in the consumer market. This was announced by Dilshod Rakhimov, the head of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes at the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to Rakhimov, during the quarantine, 2,604 officers of the prosecutor’s office and tax authorities of Uzbekistan are assigned to 215 dehkan markets, 167 shopping malls, pharmacies, wholesale trade centers and commodity exchanges, to control the situation.

“We held almost 40 thousand sensitization events regarding the unjustified increase of prices in the consumer market, and more than 23 thousand entrepreneurs signed letters of guarantee about not to increase prices,” the department head said at a briefing on March 28.

According to him, officers identified a total of 728 cases of unjustified price increase (of which 102 are associated with pharmacies), and a total worth of products was about 2 billion soums. Perpetrators will now face punishment in accordance with the law.

“In particular, during operational activities in the Tashkent region, officers detained citizen Sayfudinov at the time of the illegal sale of 10,000 medical masks worth 150 million soums without relevant documents or state registration. An investigation is underway,” Dilshod Rakhimov said.
