Saodat Boymirzayeva, press secretary of the Ministry of Mahalla and Family Affairs, spoke about the assistance provided by the Center for Coordinating Sponsorship Activities.
Less than a month has passed since the establishment of the center. As of April 25 this year, assistance was provided to a total of 250,959 families in 9,139 mahallas of the republic. Foodstuffs worth more than 28 billion soums were delivered.
People with disabilities, low-income families and elderly people are under special attention. Support is also given to families deprived of their income source due to quarantine, families of persons, who are in penitentiary institutions, as well as families of citizens, who have left to work abroad and are not currently in Uzbekistan.
It should be noted that the Center for Coordinating Sponsorship Activities began its work in early April in Tashkent.
Lonely senior citizens and low-income families, who are in need of food, clothing, and medicines, can call 1197 and ask for help.
The center will satisfy appeals on the basis of funds and assistance from the government, khokimiyat and sponsors.
