Shavkat Mirziyoyev pardoned 258 convicts

The President of Uzbekistan has signed a decree “On the pardon of a group of people serving sentences, who have sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction”.

According to the document, in connection with the holy Ramadan Hayit and in accordance with Paragraph 23 of Article 93 of the Constitution, 258 prisoners, who have sincerely repented of their deeds and firmly embarked on the path of correction, were pardoned.

Of these, 16 convicts were fully pardoned, 101 people were released on parole and the penalties imposed on 24 people have been changed to milder ones.

In addition, the terms of punishment have been reduced for 117 persons.

There are men over 60 years old (7), a woman (1), citizens of foreign countries (7), persons, who participated in the activities of banned organizations (164), among the pardoned.

Responsible ministries and agencies have been instructed to help the pardoned reintegrate into society, help them engage in social services, promote healthy lifestyles and gain a worthy place in the community they live.
