President Mirziyoyev signs decree pardoning 615 inmates

Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree granting clemency to 615 individuals in celebration of the 33rd anniversary of the adoption of Uzbekistan's Constitution.

The pardon applies to inmates who were serving prison sentences, expressed sincere remorse for their actions, and demonstrated a firm commitment to rehabilitation. The decree was issued in accordance with Article 109, Clause 23 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan.

Of the total number of those pardoned, 220 individuals were fully released from their primary sentences. Another 123 people were granted early conditional release, while the prison terms of 97 individuals were replaced with lighter forms of punishment. In addition, the remaining 175 people received reduced prison sentences.

The group of those granted clemency includes nine foreign citizens, 29 women, 23 men over the age of 60, and 264 young people under the age of 30, including two minors. Nine of the pardoned individuals had previously been convicted for involvement in the activities of banned organizations.

According to the official commentary on the decree, relevant ministries and government agencies have been instructed to assist the pardoned individuals in reuniting with their families, reintegrating into society, securing employment, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and finding their rightful place in the community.

The pardon is part of Uzbekistan’s broader efforts to promote mercy, humanism, and social reintegration in connection with major national holidays.
