“Epidemic situation in Uzbekistan remains serious” – Nurmat Otabekov
The epidemic situation in connection with the spread of coronavirus in Uzbekistan remains serious, said Nurmat Otabekov, head of the State Inspection for Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance.
“Quarantine activities are ongoing. More than 46 thousand citizens are covered by quarantine measures. The situation remains serious. Navoi region, which was earlier classified as a “green” zone, has once again become “red”, the same can be said about Bukhara,” he said.
According to Otabekov, it is not always possible to identify who the infected people were in contact with and how they contracted the infection. “This indicates that the “sources” of the disease are among us. Each of us, before going out into the street, should think about returning to our family healthy,” Otabekov notes.
Currently, the number of coronavirus infection cases in Uzbekistan stands at 3,437. So far, 2,685 people have fully recovered from the disease, 14 people died.
At present, 738 patients are undergoing treatment at medical facilities.
