University of Geological Sciences to be established in Uzbekistan

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on the establishment of the University of Geological Sciences.

“The proposal of the State Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, Ministry of Innovative Development, Ministry of Finance and the State Assets Management Agency on the establishment of the University of Geological Sciences, in the form of a state institution, has been approved. It will be specialized in research and practice in Geology. The founder of the university is the State Committee on Geology,” the document says.

Institute of Geology and Geophysics named after H. M. Abdullayev, Institute of Mineral Resources, Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, Institute of Geology and Exploration of Oil and Gas Fields, Institute of Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel of Geological Industry, State Geological Museum will be part of the university.

In the 2020/2021 academic year, the University will be located in the buildings of the Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov.
