Remittances to Uzbekistan reach $3 billion
Cross-border remittances to Uzbekistan for the first seven months of 2020 amounted to $3 billion, which is less by $217 million (7 percent) compared to the corresponding period of last year.
Meanwhile, the amount of money sent abroad has reached $516 million, which decreased by $47 million (8 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year.
As a result, the surplus on cross-border transfers was $2.5 billion – $170 million (6 percent) less than in the same period of 2019.
The Central Bank expects total remittances from migrant workers to reach $5.4-5.5 billion by 2020 and to be 8-10 percent lower than last year.
In the first half of 2020, the volume of cross-border remittances to the country amounted to $2.4 billion, which is $156 million (6 percent) less than in the corresponding period of 2019.
