New Representative of UNICEF Country Office in Uzbekistan appointed
Munir Mammadzade has taken duties of Representative of UNICEF Country Office in Uzbekistan.
According to the organization's press service, prior to his current appointment, Mammadzade served as UNICEF Deputy Representative to Kyrgyzstan for the last three years where he was leading UNICEF programmes, coordinating cross-sectoral collaboration, both internally and within the UN System in his capacity as a chair of the Programme Management Team. He has worked in UNICEF Country Offices in Azerbaijan, Moldova, Nepal as well as the Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia.
Before joining UNICEF, Munir Mammadzade had worked in different sectors, capacities and roles, such as the executive director of one of the biggest youth NGOs, head of international department in the Human Rights Ombudsman's Office in Azerbaijan. He is an experienced manager with 20 years of professional experience in the field of human rights, children's rights, youth and development.
Mammadzade graduated from the Moscow State Open University and has a degree in economics and holds a Master of Advanced Studies on Children's Rights from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland.
