“We expect positive dynamics of further trade exchanges” – Sardor Umurzakov speaks about cooperation with Italian companies
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, spoke about Italian companies operating in Uzbekistan.
“Currently there are 53 Italian companies in Uzbekistan, 13 of which were established in 2019,” Umurzakov said, answering the question about Italian companies operating on the territory of the country.
According to the Minister, they work in the production and services sectors.
“We hope that the cooperation with Confindustria (General Confederation of Italian Industry) and the creation of a new “Confindustria Uzbekistan” will help to increase interest in our country. We support the constructive dialogue with Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and President of Lombardy Attilio Fontana, who visited Uzbekistan in 2019,” said Umurzakov.
The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that Techint and Danieli had made significant contributions to automotive glass production and metallurgy.
“Tashkent, meanwhile, has recently put into operation the Pietro Fiorentini electronic gas counters plant. There are companies interested in cooperation in the field of photovoltaics and agribusiness. We buy machinery and installations for the oil, steel, textile, fruit and vegetable industries from Italy. We are increasing supplies to Italy of Uzbek tissues, leather, fruit and vegetables. We expect positive dynamics of further trade exchanges, and we have the potential for establishing industrial cooperation relations,” he noted.
