Ex-head of Kara-Suu district detained by Uzbek border guards and handed over to Kyrgyzstan
Tilek Matraimov, Akim (Khokim) of the Kara-Suu district, was detained in Uzbekistan.
As 24.kg reported with reference to the Kyrgyz special services, Tilek Matraimov and his relatives (son, nephews and personal guard) were detained by the Uzbek border guards when they illegally crossed the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border (across the river).
The 01.kg reports that Tilek Matraimov has already been handed over to the Kyrgyz side.
“On October 9, the Uzbek border guards handed over Tilek Matraimov, Ziyabiddinbek Kochkorbayev and Makhsud Akhmedov to the Kyrgyz side,” the report says.
On October 9, under Article 358 of the Criminal Code, pre-trial proceedings were initiated by the investigative bodies of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan for illegally crossing the state border.
Tilek Matraimov resigned as Akim of the Kara-Suu district on October 6, after a rally began against the results of the parliamentary elections in Bishkek on October 5.
