Uzbekistan to establish Military Medical Academy of the Armed Forces
The President has signed the decree on measures to organize a qualitatively new system of training personnel in the field of military medicine.
According to the document, a military medical academy of the Armed Forces with the status of a legal entity will appear on the basis of the military medical faculty at the Tashkent Medical Academy.
The main tasks of the academy are:
- training, retraining and advanced training of personnel that meet modern requirements in the field of military medicine for the ministries and departments that are part of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan;
- training scientific-pedagogical personnel, as well as reserve officers of the medical service;
- widespread introduction into the educational process of advanced pedagogical and innovative medical technologies, modern curricula and educational-methodological methods based on international standards;
- carrying out fundamental, applied and innovative research work aimed at solving existing problems in the practice of military medicine;
- conducting scientific research on the development of the educational process in the field of healthcare in cooperation with leading national and foreign higher, higher military educational and research institutions;
- educating students in the spirit of patriotism, based on the ideas of humanity and high spirituality.
It is noted that the academy is the state higher military educational institution and the successor of the military medical faculty at the Tashkent Medical Academy for all rights, obligations and contracts.
Starting from the 2021/2022 academic year, candidates for training at the academy are selected by the Defense Ministry among students who graduated from the fifth year of the Faculty of General Medicine and the fourth year of the Faculty of Preventive Medicine of the higher medical educational institutions of the Republic. At the same time, students should express a desire to continue their studies at the military medical academy and do military service in the future under contract.
Compulsory two-year training for cadets at the academy is carried out on the basis of a two-stage military medical curriculum: the first year – in a bachelor’s degree, the second year – a military internship in specialties necessary for the Armed Forces.
