Uzbekistan’s first Ambassador to Estonia accredited
On October 29, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Latvia Kadambay Sultanov presented his credentials as the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Estonia with a residence in Riga.
According to the MFA press service, the ceremony of presenting credentials to the President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid took place at the Kadriorg Palace. In accordance with the protocol, the flag of Uzbekistan was raised at the entrance to the palace and the military orchestra performed the national anthem.
During a brief discussion following the official ceremony, Kersti Kaljulaid expressed her appreciation to the leadership of Uzbekistan for raising the level of Uzbek-Estonian cooperation by appointing the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Estonia for the first time.
The President stressed that Estonia attaches particular importance to the progressive reforms introduced under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, aimed at liberalizing and modernizing the economy and democratizing society.
She also expressed interest in Tashkent’s efforts to develop friendly relations in Central Asia, including Uzbekistan’s important role in the peace process in Afghanistan, and promising areas of cooperation with the European Union.
