Suma Chakrabarti talks about his role as Adviser to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev
On November 5, the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, the Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov met with President Mirziyoyev’s Adviser on economic development Suma Chakrabarti, the Ministry’s press service reports.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on strategic directions for further development of the long-term reform program and on modernization and improvement of the competitiveness of key sectors of the country’s economy, and improvement of the public administration system, the quality of management personnel, the investment climate and business environment in Uzbekistan, as well as human capital.
Suma Chakrabarti praised the ongoing reforms and positive economic performance despite the pandemic and noted Uzbekistan’s strong commitment to continuing its reform agenda.
He stated that his role as an Adviser is to provide assistance in boosting the impact of reforms (governance structure, capacity-building of ministries and departments, facilitation of decision-making), engaging civil society (work with young people, improvement of feedback culture), promoting the image of the country (study best practices and experience of developed countries to introduce them in Uzbekistan).
