Residents in Surkhandarya block roads, set car tires on fire showing discontent with power outages

A video has been circulated on social networks showing how residents of the Obi Hayot mahalla in the Muzrabat district of the Surkhandarya region, dissatisfied with power outages, blocked the road, setting car tires on fire.
The khokimiyat of the Surkhandarya region commented on the incident. It was caused by the failure of a 630 kVA transformer. As a result, 545 households and 165 apartments were disconnected from the power supply.
On December 26, an additional 400 kVA transformer was installed, but due to a sharp increase in electricity consumption caused by a cold snap, the equipment broke.
The khokimiyat assured that the problem has now been fixed. On December 27, a new 630 kVA transformer was installed and the power supply has now been restored.
