Drug traffickers detained at the border checkpoint
Customs officers have prevented the smuggling of opium and hashish into the territory of Uzbekistan.

According to the State Customs Committee, a citizen of Afghanistan, who tried to import 430 grams of opium in 44 capsules, was detained at the Ayritom border customs post in Surkhandarya region. Reportedly, he hid the drugs in his abdominal cavity but was uncovered when scanned.
The employees of the State Customs Committee carried out an operational measure to identify other persons involved. As a result, two more citizens were detained. In total, they swallowed 65 sealed capsules containing 1,242.22 grams of hashish.
The operational event continued in Tashkent – a citizen of Uzbekistan, to whom these capsules were supposed to be delivered, was detained in one of the hotels in the capital.
On the revealed facts, a criminal case was initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.
