Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan dismantle major drug trafficking ring originating from Tajikistan
Security agencies from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have dismantled a major international drug trafficking ring that was smuggling narcotics from Tajikistan through Kyrgyz territory into Uzbekistan. The coordinated cross-border operation resulted in the seizure of nearly 50 kilograms of illicit substances that were destined for distribution across the Uzbek market.
The investigation began when the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan identified a 33-year-old suspect who had organized the illegal importation of high-volume hashish shipments from Tajikistan. Acting on intelligence, law enforcement officers intercepted the suspect during an attempted drug sale. A subsequent search of his person and his vehicle uncovered three tape-wrapped packages containing approximately three kilograms of narcotics.

A follow-up raid at the suspect's residence yielded an additional 31 identical packages. The contraband recovered from the home weighed 31 kilograms and 398 grams, bringing the total amount of drugs seized by Kyrgyz authorities during this phase of the operation to 34 kilograms and 448 grams.
As the pipeline trace extended across the border, the operational focus shifted to Uzbekistan. Uzbek internal affairs personnel carried out targeted raids that led to the confiscation of another 14 kilograms of hashish alongside one kilogram of opium. A 31-year-old suspect was arrested on Uzbek soil for his alleged role in managing and distributing the smuggled shipments.

Law enforcement bodies from both countries are continuing their joint investigative actions to map out the entire transnational network, verify financial trails, and track down any remaining co-conspirators linked to the criminal enterprise.
