Uzbekistan plans to simplify procedure for granting citizenship to stateless persons
At a regular meeting of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the deputies considered in the first reading the draft law on amendments and additions to the law of Uzbekistan “On citizenship”.

As the parliamentary press service reports, the bill simplifies the procedure for recognition of citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan for stateless persons.
The draft law provides for granting citizenship to stateless persons living on the territory of the republic for the last 15 years.
According to the MPs, the adoption of the bill will serve to strengthen the legal mechanisms for the protection of human rights and freedoms in relation to citizenship. The bill has been adopted in the first reading.
