Tashkent court dismisses case against rights activist Tashanov
A court in Tashkent has dismissed an administrative case against human rights activist Abdurakhmon Tashanov, who had been accused of disseminating false information.
The case was heard on April 1 at the Mirabad District Court for Criminal Cases in Tashkent and was closed due to the absence of an administrative offence, in line with Part 1, Article 271 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, Tashanov told Kun.uz.
The case stemmed from posts published by Tashanov on Facebook, in which he reported alleged torture against a citizen, Nozim Abdullayev.
“Following this, two State Security Service officers filed a complaint with the military prosecutor’s office, alleging that their honor and dignity had been harmed. The military prosecutor’s office opened an administrative case, but the court dismissed it,” Tashanov said.
