Umid Abidkhodjayev heads Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research
Umid Abidkhodjayev has been appointed director of the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.
Prior to his appointment to this position, Abidkhodjayev served as Deputy Director of the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
Umid Abidkhodjaev was born in 1987 in Namangan. In 2009 he graduated from the Tashkent Islamic University.
He earned his master’s degree from Keio University in Japan in 2014 and completed his Ph.D. in 2017.
In 2019, he worked as acting head of the group for analysis of infrastructure projects at the Ministry of Economy and Industry of Uzbekistan.
The Institute was founded in 1968 and has extensive experience in forecasting and researching macroeconomic, monetary, financial, banking and social problems. During its activity, the goals and objectives of the institute have changed taking into account the requirements of the time.
In 2008, it was transformed into an Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research under the Cabinet of Ministers, since 2018 – under the Ministry of Economy and Industry.
In 2020, according to the presidential decree “On measures to radically update state policy in the field of economic development and poverty reduction”, it was transformed into an Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research under the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.
