Suspects in creation of Hizb ut-Tahrir cell detained in Uzbekistan

The suspects were detained in the Jizzakh region. The total number of those detained is not indicated.

The law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan have detained several people suspected of creating a cell of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami.

“During operational activities, officers of the Department of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service of the Jizzakh region prevented the activities of the religious-extremist group Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami,” the regional DIA reported.

The number of those detained is not indicated.

During the searches, material evidence was seized, confirming the involvement of persons in this terrorist organization.

A criminal case was initiated. The investigation continues.

At the end of June, law enforcement officers detained six more people in the Samarkand region, suspected of creating a cell of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami.

In September 2020, the special services detained 15 more people on suspicion of participation in the terrorist organization.

In a number of countries of the world Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami has been recognized as a terrorist. In Russia, its activities are prohibited by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation of 2003.

The goal of the organization is to eliminate non-Muslim governments and establish Islamic rule on a global scale through the creation of a “Worldwide Islamic Caliphate”.
