Uzbekistan updates list of banned extremist online resources to nearly 1,900
The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan has updated its register of internet resources containing extremist and terrorist content that is prohibited from being imported, produced, distributed, or displayed in the country. The latest list now includes 1,894 online resources, with Telegram accounting for nearly half of all entries.
According to the updated register published by the Supreme Court, the banned resources include social media pages, messaging channels, websites, and other online platforms linked to extremist and terrorist ideology.
Telegram remains the largest category, with 886 banned channels and groups. The list also includes 405 Instagram profiles, 276 Facebook pages, 202 YouTube channels, 68 TikTok accounts, 44 pages on Odnoklassniki, one Threads profile, and 33 websites and other internet resources.
The Supreme Court said that nearly 70 new internet resources have been added to the register since April this year. About half of the newly identified resources were found on the Telegram platform.
The register covers online resources containing extremist or terrorist materials whose import, creation, distribution, and public display are prohibited under Uzbekistan's legislation.
