Uzbekistan increases water flow to Kazakhstan through the Dostyk canal

Uzbekistan increased the water flow through the Dostyk interstate canal from 80 to 90 m3/s for farmers of the Maktaaral and Zhetisay districts of the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan.

The Minister of Ecology, Geology, and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev and the Minister of Water Management of Uzbekistan reached the relevant agreement at the meeting on July 19.

The ministries also agreed to continue joint measures to increase inflow to the Shardara reservoir and discussed the draft agreement between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the joint management and use of transboundary water bodies.
