UN ready to support Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s initiative to strengthen connectivity between Central and South Asia
On July 29, in New York, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations, Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, held a meeting with the President of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkir.
At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the results of Volkan Bozkir’s visit to Uzbekistan on July 5-7, 2021, as well as on the results of the high-level international conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities” (Tashkent, July 15-16, 2021).
The UN High Representative welcomed the initiatives of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to strengthen the interconnection between Central and South Asia and stressed the importance of the Tashkent Forum in promoting comprehensive political, diplomatic, trade, economic and cultural ties between the two regions.
The President of the UN General Assembly highly appreciated the current state of cooperation of the organization with Uzbekistan, noted the role of the republic in consolidating the efforts of the international community to solve pressing problems and challenges in the region.
Volkan Bozkir confirmed the UN’s readiness to provide all possible support to international initiatives and proposals of Uzbekistan, to continue active cooperation of the organization with Tashkent.
