President Mirziyoyev names three important conditions for avoiding the next wave of COVID-19
On August 3, a videoconference meeting was held in Tashkent under the chairmanship of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It discussed the results of economic development in the first half of the year and the measures that need to be taken in each industry and region by the end of the third quarter and 2021.
As Kun.uz correspondent reports, at the beginning of the meeting, the head of state made an important statement and named a condition for avoiding the next wave of coronavirus in Uzbekistan.
“We have gained sufficient experience in the fight against coronavirus infection. The healthcare system was ready, and there was enough medicine. Social facilities and economic spheres continue their work under conditions of non-rigid quarantine,” Mirziyoyev said.
The President stressed that everyone must comply with three important conditions in order to reduce the number of deaths and avoid the next wave of coronavirus.
“First, to protect yourself from the virus, you need to be vaccinated. We brought four vaccines. People have a choice. Yesterday I signed a law to speed up the vaccination process in the country. Now employers can remove their employees if they refuse preventive vaccinations,” he said.
The head of state noted the importance of wearing masks.
“Secondly, personal hygiene, keeping social distance and wearing masks. This is one of the best protection methods. Don’t forget about it. Unfortunately, many people forget these basic rules. Entrance exams to universities will begin soon in the country. About 100 thousand applicants will take part in the exams throughout the republic. It is important that everyone follows the quarantine rules. Despite the restrictions, people at places still organize big weddings and various events,” Mirziyoyev added.
The President spoke about self-medication.
“Thirdly, people who have a mild form of coronavirus, or those who are treated at home, self-medicate. They take various medications, but such cases must be prevented. As a result, their health condition deteriorates,” he stressed.
The head of state instructed the Ministry of Health to establish appropriate control over persons who are treated at home. To this end, he instructed to double the number of special medical teams and provide them with medicines.
Mirziyoyev also instructed the prosecutor’s office, khokimiyats and sector leaders to strengthen control over the unjustified increase in prices for medicines.
