At the next meeting of the commission, the proposals made by the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan and the Committee on Religious Affairs to accelerate the mass vaccination of the population, as well as to create favorable conditions for religious worship were discussed in detail.

According to the press service of the Health Ministry, following the discussions, the subsequent proposals of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan and the Committee on Religious Affairs were approved:

  • from 13 August 2021, allowing all mosque workers and employees (except those with contraindications to health) to hold Friday prayers in these mosques if they have a certificate of vaccination with at least 2 doses of coronavirus vaccine (regardless of type);
  • permitting visitors to enter mosques who have a QR code or certificate of coronavirus vaccination (except for those with contraindications to health) to perform Friday prayers.

It was recommended that other religious denominations operating in the country apply the same procedure.

At the same time, it was noted that during the performance of religious prayers, visitors should strictly adhere to quarantine restrictions on wearing a medical mask and maintaining social distance.

It should be recalled that Friday prayers in Uzbekistan were suspended in mid-July due to the coronavirus, and the Eid prayers were not performed.

Earlier, it was reported that the decision of the Republican Special Commission on August 8 relaxed the quarantine restrictions on public catering facilities.
