Merkel expresses gratitude to Uzbekistan for assistance in evacuating German citizens from Afghanistan
German Chancellor Angela Merkel thanked Uzbekistan for assisting to evacuate citizens of Germany, local officials working in German structures in Afghanistan, as well as Afghans in need of shelter and protection.
Germany is evacuating from Afghanistan its citizens, local officials working in German structures, as well as Afghans in need of help.
He stressed that this is a complex operation coordinated with the international community.
“I would like to thank Uzbekistan for its close cooperation,” said the German Chancellor.
Germany has so far evacuated 900 people from Kabul. The evacuees are being transported from Tashkent to Frankfurt-Main by Lufthansa and Uzbekistan Airways.
