EU Special Representative visits Termez, gets acquainted with situation on the Uzbek-Afghan border
Ambassador Terhi Hakala, EU Special Representative for Central Asia, is on an official visit to Uzbekistan from 20 to 26 August.
As the press service of the European Union delegation to the republic reported, the ambassador will meet with Deputy PM Sardor Umurzakov, Deputy PM Aziz Abdukhakimov and FM Abdulaziz Kamilov.
The ambassador also plans to meet with the Senate Speaker Tanzilya Narbayeva and the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis Akmal Saidov.
Other meetings with local diplomatic missions and international organizations are also envisaged.

“In connection with the latest events in Afghanistan, Ambassador Hakala visited Termez on August 21-23 to get acquainted with the situation at the border. There she met with the khokim of the Surkhandarya region Tura Bobolov, visited the Training Center for Afghan citizens, as well as the international logistics center Termez Cargo Center, the report reads.
For information, Terhi Hakala was appointed EU Special Representative for Central Asia on July 1, 2021. She previously held several senior positions at the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
