Germany evacuated more than 2 thousand people from Kabul through Tashkent in a week
Over the past week, Germany evacuated more than 2,000 people from Afghanistan through the territory of Uzbekistan, the German embassy in Uzbekistan said on Sunday.
“On 18 flights (as of August 22, 9:30), more than 2 thousand people – Germans, citizens of the EU countries and Afghan nationals – were safely evacuated from Kabul through Tashkent,” the statement said.
According to the diplomatic mission, the evacuees are supplied with food and water at the Tashkent airport, provided with medicines and tested for COVID-19, and then sent to Germany on special flights.
As reported, military planes fly to Tashkent from Kabul, and Lufthansa and Uzbekistan Airways planes transport them from the capital of Uzbekistan.
