Chief mufti of Uzbekistan appointed

The chief imam-khatib of Tashkent, Nuriddin Kholiknazarov, has become the Chairman of the Muslim Board, the chief mufti of Uzbekistan, the press service of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan reported.
Nuriddin Kholiknazarov was born in 1968 in the city of Asaka, Andijan region. In 1992, he graduated from the Mir Arab madrasah in Bukhara, in 1998 – from the Tashkent Islamic Institute and in 2007 – from the Fergana State University.
Previously, he worked as an imam-khatib in the Akhmadali Makhdum mosque (Asaka, Andijan region), as well as in the Ok Tepa mosque (Yunusabad district, Tashkent).
In August 2019, Nuriddin Kholiknazarov was appointed the chief imam-khatib of Tashkent. Prior to his appointment to this position, he worked as the chief imam-khatib of Andijan region.
It should be recalled that in mid-August this year, the Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, chief mufti of the country Usmonkhon Alimov, aged 71, died from the consequences of a serious illness.
