Uzbekistan appoints new ambassador to Indonesia
Oybek Eshonov has been appointed as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Indonesia, according to a report by Dunyo news agency.

Eshonov, who previously served as the ambassador to Israel and headed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Department for Cooperation with South Asia, the Middle East, and African countries, has already arrived in Jakarta to assume his new position.
The 57-year-old diplomat holds a degree in Oriental Studies from Tashkent State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan) and is also an alumnus of the Academy of State Building under the President of Uzbekistan. His professional background includes nearly a decade as Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Israel, from 2008 to 2017. Most recently, he headed the Department for Cooperation with South Asia, the Middle East, and African countries within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Eshonov, fluent in both Persian and English, brings a wealth of regional expertise to his role in Indonesia. This new appointment marks his return to Jakarta, where he previously served as head of Uzbekistan's diplomatic mission between 2018 and 2022.
He succeeds Ulugbek Rozukulov, who was recently confirmed as the chairman of the management board of Uzavtosanoat, Uzbekistan’s automotive industry corporation.
