Interpol detains a citizen of Uzbekistan who was on the international wanted list
In Abu Dhabi, a 49-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan has been detained. He was on the international wanted list for committing grave and especially grave crimes, the Interpol National Central Bureau in Uzbekistan said.
“As a result of joint operational-search activities carried out by employees of the Interpol NCB of Uzbekistan and the Interpol NCB of the United Arab Emirates, a 49-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan has been arrested in the city of Abu Dhabi. He was on the international wanted list for committing grave and especially grave crimes, provided for in Articles 155, 161, 242 and 244 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan,” the statement says.
Based on the materials received, an approximate location of the wanted person was sent to the General Secretariat of Interpol.
In 2006, it was established that the defendant was hiding in the United States. At the end of September 2021, information was received that the man left the United States and headed to the city of Dubai (UAE).
A few days after arriving in Abu Dhabi, he was arrested by employees of the Interpol NCB of Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates. Currently, the issue of his extradition to Uzbekistan is being considered.
