According to the Ministry of Innovation Development, four strains of COVID-19 have been identified in Uzbekistan.

It was noted that the Center for Advanced Technologies for the first time carried out work on the detection of coronavirus strains in 2020, and in 2021 continued work.

In the beginning and first quarter of 2021, the spread of the Alpha coronavirus strain was observed, while in the second half of this year, the Delta strain was widespread.

“Currently, new mutations that have not been previously reported are being identified, at which stage the data will be summarized and their bioinformatical analysis, as well as the results of the study will be prepared for publication,” the report said.

According to Alisher Abdullayev, Deputy Director of the Center for Advanced Technologies, Doctor of Biological Sciences, there are four strains of COVID-19 in Uzbekistan.

One of them is close to the “original” Wuhan strain, which has been detected in about 1% of those infected with the coronavirus. The 20A strain has been observed in 7 cases. Another type is also called Alpha or British strain, which is recorded in about 10%. However, more than 82% of patients were infected with the Delta strain (Indian version).
