Triplet birth rate up by four times in Uzbekistan over 10 years
Over the last 10 years, the triplet birth rate in Uzbekistan has increased by more than four times, the State Statistics Committee noted.
According to the committee, in 2010, 103 triplet births were registered in the republic. The figure remained relatively the same in 2011 – 106 births.
A year later, in 2012, there was a considerable increase in triplet births – 166, before dropping to 143 in 2013.
After that, the figure started to rise incrementally: 177 – in 2014, 206 – in 2015, 244 – in 2016, 263 – in 2017, 346 – in 2018, 381 – in 2019 and 430 – in 2020.
According to researches, twins occur in about one in 250 pregnancies, triplets in about one in 10,000 pregnancies, and quadruplets in about one in 700,000 pregnancies.
