The second Eurasian Congress is taking place in Moscow. During the plenary session, representatives of government, business and science exchange views on how to develop the Eurasian region, Sputnik reports

Uzbekistan is represented at a large-scale forum by the Deputy PM and Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of the country Jamshid Kuchkarov.

During the discussion, the chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank Nikolay Podguzov said that Uzbekistan had applied to join the EDB. According to him, coordination of the issue with the bank’s shareholders “is at an advanced stage”.

Jamshid Kuchkarov announced the most priority areas of cooperation between the republic and the EAEU:

· transport infrastructure. Since Uzbekistan is landlocked, interaction on this issue is of great interest;
· water resources. The republic has good relations with neighbors who have water sources. Uzbekistan intends to cooperate, among other things, in the field of energy;
· industrial cooperation. Uzbekistan made a proposal to prepare an agreement on industrial cooperation. The draft document is already ready;
· the financial sector. Uzbekistan is opening its financial services market – for example, a Kazakh bank is operating in the country and the sale of two state-owned banks to Russian ones is being discussed;
· labor resources. People are becoming mobile – this is very important for Uzbekistan.

According to the Deputy PM, Uzbekistan is committed to cooperation with the EAEU, and trade with neighboring countries is growing.

“In 2020, the republic’s economy grew by 1.7%. This year, the IMF estimates growth at 6.1%, but we think it will be more than 6.5%,” he said.
