SSS confiscates more than 24.5 kg of drugs across the country

The State Security Service (SSS) seized a total of more than 24.5 kg of drugs across the country, the SSS press service reported.

In particular, during an operative event carried out by officers of the Fergana Regional SSS Department, a Spark car driven by a former convict (born in 1988) living in Fergana was stopped and inspected. Reportedly, 4.459 kg of opium and 2.975 kg of hashish were found inside the vehicle. During the pre-trial investigation, it was found that he had previously given 7.9 kg of hashish to his accomplice (born in 1993), and these drugs were also seized.

In another search operation, 1.1 kg of hashish and 991 grams of opium were seized in a procedural manner at the residence of two citizens living in the city of Fergana. It was also reported that two buyers from Margilan and Kokand were detained during the event.

In the course of a search operation held at the “Dustlik” international checkpoint in the Khodjaabad district, SSS officers of the Andijan region seized 6.1 kg of hashish in a Spark car, which was driven by a resident of Andijan district, a former convict (born in 1988).

During an operative event held in the Kashkadarya region, a vehicle driven by a resident of Uchkuprik district (born in 1974) was moving on the route “Surkhandarya – Fergana”. The car was stopped and inspected at the “Umakay” patrol station. As a result, it was found that the car contained 1.047 kg of drugs, which were secretly placed on the scales for measuring household goods. At the same time, his accomplice, a resident of Denau district (born in 1973) convicted of trafficking in heroin, was also arrested.

In the Republic of Karakalpakstan, in the course of an operative event held in cooperation with the State Security Service and the territorial department of the State Customs Committee, 2,990 Tramadol drugs were found in a former convict living in Ellikkala district (born 1988), and registered accordingly.

As a result of operative events, a total of 5.450 kg of opium, 19.210 kg of hashish and 2,990 units of Tramadol were seized.

It was noted that in all cases, the drugs were smuggled from neighboring countries for further sale. Criminal proceedings have been instituted under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.
