CB clarifies what will happen with 50,000-soum and 100,000-soum banknotes that are in circulation
Earlier, the Central Bank decided to issue new samples of banknotes with denominations of 50,000-soum and 100,000-soum from December 22, 2020. The regulator also clarified what will happen with the 50,000-soum and 100,000-soum banknotes that are in circulation.
According to the CB press service, new samples of banknotes with denominations of 50,000-soum and 100,000-soum are being put into circulation in parallel with the 50,000-soum of the 2017 sample and 100,000-soum of the 2019 sample.
“The banknotes of 2017 and 2019 with denominations of 50,000-soum and 100,000-soum do not lose their solvency,” the regulator stressed.
It is noted that banknotes of a new type, along with banknotes and coins in circulation, are required to be accepted at face value in all types of payments by all business entities and the population without any restrictions.
Previously, it was reported that the theme of the new banknotes is dedicated to the “Great Silk Road”, as well as the history of the Surkhandarya and Khorezm regions.
The banknotes are printed on security paper, the front and back sides are coated with a special varnish.
