Higher-income households report stronger inflation pressures – Central Bank
Residents of Tashkent reported the highest perceived inflation rate in Uzbekistan in June, according to the latest survey published by the Central Bank.
The nationwide survey found that the average perceived annual inflation rate stood at 10.2% during the month, down slightly from 10.3% recorded in May. The figures reflect respondents' assessment of price increases over the 12-month period from June 2025 to June 2026.
Tashkent recorded the highest perceived inflation rate at 12.3%. Several other regions also reported figures above the national average, including Andijan region with 12.2%, Fergana region with 11.1%, Samarkand region with 10.7%, Surkhandarya region with 10.4%, and Tashkent region with 10.4%.
Khorezm region registered the lowest perceived inflation rate, at 8.5%.
According to the survey, meat remained the product most frequently identified by respondents as having experienced the sharpest price increase in June. More people also reported rising prices for fuel, electricity, and natural gas compared with the previous month.
The number of respondents who said rice had become more expensive increased sharply, while many also pointed to higher prices for sugar and confectionery products.
The survey found that perceptions of inflation were stronger among higher-income households. Respondents earning more than UZS 4 million per month reported higher perceived inflation than lower-income groups.
The highest perceived inflation rate, at 13.5%, was recorded among people with monthly incomes exceeding UZS 30 million. Those earning between UZS 20 million and UZS 30 million reported perceived inflation of around 12.4%, while respondents with monthly incomes of up to UZS 2 million reported the lowest figure, at 8%.
By occupation, workers in household services reported the highest perceived inflation, at 11.6%. Employees in the transport services sector also reported perceived inflation of 11.6%, followed by construction workers at 11.5% and healthcare professionals at 11.4%.
Students reported the lowest perceived inflation among occupational groups, at 8.8%.
