Uzbekistan Railways JSC provides information on construction of 2nd section of the overground metro line 

The second stage of construction of the Tashkent overground metro ring line includes a section from the Kuylik market, through the Tashkent ring road to the Yangikhayot district of the capital, connecting Khanabad street in the Zangiata district of Tashkent region with the coverage of Kipchak street in the Sergeli district of Tashkent, including the Bekat-5 station of the Sergeli metro lines. It is planned to build 9 stations on this section with a total length of 15 kilometers.

These construction works are carried out by the unitary enterprise Kuprikkurilish Trest of the JSC Uzbekistan Railways, which has extensive experience in the construction of large-scale projects and modern equipment.

In December 2020, the UE Kuprikkurilish Trest began construction work on the 11.62-kilometer Kuylik – Kipchak section, which is the second stage of the elevated metro line. Currently, on the territory of this site, construction work is rapidly underway from Bekat-7 on the territory of the Kuylik market to Bekat-12 in the Sergeli district. 

In particular, according to the project, to date, 1,014 reinforced concrete beams have been installed out of the planned 2,418, 203 reinforced concrete transverse columns out of 405 planned, 198 out of 405 reinforced concrete transverse girders, 210 single-tier reinforced concrete foundations and 210 two-tier reinforced concrete foundations, 212 trenches (excavations) have also been excavated. In addition, at the 2nd stage of the construction of the Tashkent ring road between the 8th, 9th and 10th stations, foundations, columns and crossbars, as well as 26-meter beams were installed.

Construction work continues at the stations. In particular, on the first floor of the 8th station, the main construction works have been completed and finishing works are underway. The walls of the building are lined with durable tiles and marble. The interior of the building is decorated in the national style, with modern doors and frames. Also, construction work began on the apron part of the station on the 2nd floor. The main construction work at the 9th and 10th stations has been completed, on the 1st floor of the building and on external finishing works, installation of electrical, plumbing and communication systems. While construction has not yet begun at Bekat-11, bricklaying is already underway at Bekat-12. Currently, railway workers are building an overpass in a monolithic way at the U-turn section of the Tashkent ring road.

Also, the installation of foundations, columns and girders on Khanabad Street is almost completed on the basis of the construction plan of the project. On Kipchak Street, they lay the foundation and erect columns.

It is noteworthy that in connection with the completion of reinforced concrete works on the construction of overpasses between the 8th, 9th and 10th metro stations, built from the Kuylik market to the Tashkent ring road, the specialists of the Track Facilities Department of the JSC Uzbekistan Railways have begun work on the installation of the first rails. Currently, more than 2,500 meters of new rails have been laid between stations 8, 9 and 10.

During the construction process of this project, construction equipment from Germany is used, weighing 220 tons, about 110 units of special equipment are involved, as well as about 2,500 qualified engineers and workers. Control over the quality of construction work is carried out by specialists from the State Inspectorate for Architectural and Construction Supervision, as well as the Uzdavtemiryulnazorat Inspectorate. According to experts, to date, about 60% of construction work has been completed.

After the commissioning of the Kuylik – Kipchak – Yangi Khayot section, it is planned to carry about 46 thousand passengers daily on this section alone. Also, about 700 new jobs will be created. Currently, all construction work is being carried out according to the plan in accordance with the established schedule.
