Criminal case opened against one of the khokimiyat officials for cutting down trees in Andijan

A criminal case has been opened against an official suspected of illegally cutting down 12 Eldor pines included in the list of valuable tree species in the territory of the Andijan city perinatal center.

The PGO has announced the results of a study by a working group set up to investigate illegal logging in the Andijan regional perinatal center.

As it turned out, a criminal case under Article 198-2 of the Criminal Code was initiated against the head of the Andijan city landscaping department.

The presidential decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to accelerate the planting of trees, more effective organization of tree protection" dated December 30, 2021 extended the moratorium on the felling of valuable species of trees and shrubs not included in the state forest fund.

Nevertheless, the head of the Andijan city landscaping department G.Sh. illegally felled 12 Eldor pines (Pinus eldarica) in the territory of the perinatal center of Andijan region. As a result, the damage to nature amounted to 115.5 soums.

According to the results of the investigation, a criminal case under Article 198-2 of the Criminal Code was initiated against G.Sh., the head of the Andijan city landscaping department. 

An investigation is currently underway.

Earlier, an employee of the regional perinatal center told Kun.uz that the trees were cut down at the instructions of the regional khokim Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov.
