Volume of remittances to Uzbekistan exceeded $8 billion in 2021

The volume of remittances to Uzbekistan last year amounted to $8.1 billion, which is 34% more than in 2020 and 2019 ($6 billion), the Central Bank reports.
The volume of money sent abroad amounted to $1.6 billion during the reporting period.
The World Bank predicted that in 2021 the volume of remittances from labor migrants to Uzbekistan would be about $7.6 billion, or 11.6% of the country’s GDP.
It should be recalled that the volume of cross-border transfers to Uzbekistan in 2020 amounted to $6.03 billion, up by $17 million (0.3%) compared to 2019.
