Three new HPPs to be built in Samarkand region in 2022
The new Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 envisages the implementation of 7 projects in the field of hydropower in 2022, the press service of the Energy Ministry reported.

The total capacity of the new projects is 173 MW.
In particular, the following projects are planned to be implemented in 2022:
3 new hydroelectric power stations will be built in Samarkand region.
Four existing hydropower plants in Surkhandarya, Samarkand and Tashkent regions will be modernized.
“As a result, 173 MW of new capacity will be created, bringing the total capacity of hydropower plants in the country to 2,225 MW,” the report said.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan plans to build 21 large hydropower plants with a capacity of 740 MW by 2026. It is planned to implement 12 projects of 150 MW in 2023-2024 and 2 projects of 420 MW in 2025-2026.
