Uzbekistan’s machine-building industry is expected to export $410 million worth of products in 2022 based on domestic demand. This was announced at a meeting chaired by Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 14 February on prospects of the automotive industry.

At the event, it was noted that this figure is much lower than the available capacity in the network.

Therefore, it was instructed to direct more cars to the domestic market and increase annual exports to $500 million at the expense of components.

It was noted that it would be expedient to introduce the experience of selling components through the major trade networks of Russia and Kazakhstan in other countries.

During the meeting, it was stated that the industry should be developed in a cluster manner.

“Now we are developing the machine-building industry in the form of an industrial cluster. We have enough opportunities and potential for this,” he said.

It was noted that based on science, an integrated chain of “engineering – components – finished products – trade and service” will be created. Wherein, it is necessary to cover the activities of:

  • 8 large machine-building enterprises (manufacturers of cars and trucks, buses, agricultural machinery);
  • more than 300 components manufacturers;
  • finance, logistics, trade and service network in domestic and foreign markets;
  • Turin Polytechnic and Andijan Institute of Mechanical Engineering.

As a result, the National Machine-Building Cluster will be formed. Within two months, it was instructed to introduce a program to establish this cluster.

Conditions will be created to attract foreign investors and the private sector to the cluster.

Earlier, it was reported that the amount of prepayment for cars in Uzbekistan will be reduced from 85% to 50%, the problem of queues will be eliminated, as well as customs duties on imported cars in Uzbekistan will be halved.
