Banks sold $614 million to citizens in January
In the first month of 2022, the population of Uzbekistan bought $613.6 million from banks, which is $231 million or 61% more than in January last year, Spot reported with reference to the Central Bank of the Republic.
The volume of foreign currency purchases from the population increased by 11% in January. Last month, banks bought $464.2 million from citizens, which is $44 million more than in the same period in 2021.
In January, the dollar exchange rate in banks was 10,910 soums, the purchase range was from 10,800 to 10,890 soums. The Accounts Chamber of Uzbekistan predicted the dollar exchange rate in 2022 to be above 11,300 soums.
