US dollar exchange rate sets new record against UZS
Several banks in Uzbekistan raised the US dollar exchange rate on Tuesday, February 22.
Many of them have set the purchase rate at 10,880 soums and the sale at 10,940 soums. For the first time, the exchange rate of the dollar has reached the 10,940 soums mark. The Uzbek soum is losing its value incrementally.
The most favorable purchase rate is offered by the NBU, Universalbank and Invest Finance Bank - 10,880 soums.
A day earlier, the Central Bank raised the official dollar rate by 46 soums to 10,888.07 soums per dollar. This is the sharpest appreciation since February 2021.
The previous time the dollar exchange rate updated a record on January 12, reaching 10,910 soums for the first time.
In 2021, the Uzbek soum depreciated by 3.4% - the fall was the lowest since 2018. However, this year the Accounts Chamber expects a considerable increase in the US dollar exchange rate.
