Uzbekistan, Tajikistan consider strengthening investment ties, eye to increase mutual trade
Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held talks with the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan Sherali Kabir.
The parties discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation in the areas of investment, industry, trade and transport. The course of implementation of the agreements reached in June last year during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Tajikistan was considered.
The sides exchanged views on priority areas for the development of investment ties, and also agreed to intensify joint work on the implementation of industrial cooperation projects and improve conditions for boosting mutual trade by abolishing existing tariff and non-tariff measures and simplifying the access of Uzbek and Tajik products to the markets of the two countries.
“A constructive dialogue made it possible to substantively identify existing issues and develop optimal solutions to address them. Further joint actions are outlined to promote ongoing projects, as well as new directions for expanding mutually beneficial economic partnership,” the MIFT said.
