Tanzila Narbayeva receives new UN resident coordinator
Yesterday, the meeting of the Chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva with the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Roli Astkhana took place.
According to the information service of the upper house of parliament, during it the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN, issues of expanding cooperation, including in the field of achieving national sustainable development goals, were discussed.
The UN representative was informed about the essence and significance of the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan aimed at improving the living standards of the population, reducing poverty, ensuring gender equality, as well as implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in our country.
There was also a discussion of various aspects of interaction on gender issues, in particular, the expansion of women’s economic opportunities and the creation of conditions for the realization of their professional and personal potential.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop interaction and expand cooperation on the above issues.
