Uzbekistan takes part in UN ESCAP session

The 78th annual session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) began its work yesterday in Bangkok in a hybrid format.

The topic of the session is “A Common Agenda for Advancing Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific”.

At the beginning of the 78th session, President of the UN General Assembly Abdullah Shahid, UN Secretary General António Guterres, Chairman of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Collen Vixen Kelapile, Executive Secretary of ESCAP Armida Alisjahbana and Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

The Uzbek delegation at the session is headed by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov.

In his online speech, the head of the delegation informed the participants about the priorities and main directions of the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026, which is largely in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To achieve the UN SDGs, in cooperation with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, the Uzbek side proposed interaction in priority areas.

The 78th session of ESCAP will end on 27 May.
